I was born in South Africa and adopted as a child. I grew up with a question many people never have to ask — where do I belong? — in a country where inequality was not a statistic but a daily, visible fact of life. Nobody handed me a path. I had to build one.
So I left. I walked away from everything familiar with no safety net, no capital and no connections — just a refusal to accept that where I started was where I had to stay. Every qualification I hold, every business I have built, every sector I have come to understand, I earned the hard way: by turning up, failing, learning, and refusing to quit.
I am not self-made because it sounds good. I am self-made because there was no one else to do it.
Today I am also raising my daughter on my own — and if anything, that has only sharpened the drive. When you are building for the next generation and one of them is asleep down the hall, giving up simply is not on the table. It is the same resolve I bring to a client's business: I do not walk away when it gets hard.
I tell you all this not to impress you, but because it is the whole reason I can help you. I know what it is to stand at the bottom of something and decide to climb it anyway.
